Introduction

Hi! My name is Alyssa, and I am a first year Film Production major here at SDSU.

When it comes to writing, I don’t have a lot of experience outside of papers for school. I never really liked writing anything, and it always felt like a hassle and a chore to do a paper for any of my classes. Creative writing for me was much worse than an analysis or factual paper for any of my classes. Reading was always better for me and I was a pretty big reader when I was younger, but that began to drop off when I got to high school. My teachers told me I was an advanced reader for my age and grade level. In this course, I hope to learn how to make writing less of a hassle and more something I can at least tolerate for the rest of my college time, and my life.

My favorite hobby is either exploring big cities or watching movies.

I find the exploration of big cities to be really interesting and I like finding local gems that people love. Growing up in the Bay Area and having ready access to San Francisco really helped grow this hobby and has made me really excited to explore San Diego.

Watching movies is really interesting and is a great way to enjoy a good story, as the visuals and dialogue can really sell a story and make it interesting for almost everyone. Movies like “Casino” and “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me” are great examples of this, as they both have immensely beautiful visuals and encapsulating dialogue.

I am involved in the Twin Peaks fandom alongside the Rocky Horror Picture Show (long live Tim Curry) fandom. The Twin Peaks fandom involves reading and writing more than the Rocky Horror fandom as there are a lot of extra books and other mediums that can provide more to the Twin Peaks story. There is also a lot of fanmade content and stories that can provide so many extra layers to the main story. I usually interact with these fandoms online and through social media.

I personally like to talk about the content of the fandoms I am involved in and I like to recommend that people watch them. I find them both to be really interesting and some to be extremely funny to explore
